NEW RESEARCH GRANTS PUSH PSYCHEDELIC STUDIES BEYOND THERAPEUTICS
It’s happening—a new path for psychedelic research is being formed beyond the promising (with caution and discernment, of course) therapeutic applications.
UC Berkeley and Harvard University announced last fall that they’d offer psychedelic research grants across the arts, humanities, and social sciences. “Literature and the arts have a longstanding historical relationship with altered states of perception and consciousness that yield new visions of what it means to be in the world,” stated Debarati Sanyal, director at Berkeley’s Center for Interdisciplinary Critical Inquiry.
Given their interdisciplinary openness, the creative possibilities are endless—and may even tap into deeper mysteries and hypotheses. We look forward to learning what’s discovered, or possibly hearing some Hendrix 2.0.
